Those of you who had Wiiconnect24 turned on last night got a pleasant surprise this morning… a firmware update. The update adds a few nice touches like a digital clock on the main menu screen and scrolling news headlines without having to actually access the news channel. Perhaps the most welcome addition of all, however, is decreased load times when returning back to the main menu from the individual channels.
EDIT: This just in – The new firmware also adds USB keyboard support for the Wii message board and shop channel. Internet Channel support not far behind.
Cool deal. Coincidentally, the 360 just had an update as well. I’m not sure what it did, though.
