I have absolutely no desire to play this game by myself in the dark. But it is ridiculously good. The combat is fresh and creative. I honestly feel spoiled for choice on how to fight enemies. Do I freeze them solid and shatter them with my wrench? Do I catch them on fire, wait for them to run to a pool of water to put themselves out and then electrify the water? Do I use Telekinesis and throw a gas tank at them? Do I just shoot them? And holy hell, the atmosphere is just amazing. The art-deco architecture is a very nice departure from the standard brown corridors (yes, make as many poop jokes as you want) of most FPSes. And who amongst us hasn’t wanted to shoot an objectivist or two in his (or her) day? I don’t often totally geek out over a game these days, but I really feel that Bioshock is a landmark game and I would enthusiastically recommend it to every single person I know.
Bioshock is effing creepy

I agree. This game is totally worth it. I’ve been geeking out on it as well. I, too love the variety of ways you can off foes. I like to think out ways to take out enemies efficiently, and with little waste of ammo and eve. The setting is a nice breath of fresh air…well, as much as you can have in an underwater civilization. The atmosphere is very immersive. I like to think of the game as playing a science fiction mystery novel. Grade A stuff.
I’m glad I got drunk one night and decided to buy the game, otherwise I might have just waited until Halo 3 for my next game. I’m 2 months away from the wedding and really don’t have much free time. Now any free time is being spent on Bioshock. Awesome game, great job with the whole 1958 theme too. Music and visuals are incredible. I personally enjoy using the camera as my weapon just to snap photos, and using telekenesis to throw stuff at enemies. Once I kill an enemy, I use it’s corpse to throw it at another one. Then I trip the security system to lure 2 of the flying thingys and hack them to fight my fights. Totally kick ass. It’s quite creepy, especially when there’s someone behind me and I don’t even know it. My only wish is that there was some way that we could get multiplayer on it. I’d have to say this is the best game I’ve played since Gears of War. Next up for me might be Metroid Prime 3. We’ll see how much free time I have.
