Little Big Planet Beta Impressions

I finally got my hands on the beta for Little Big Planet last night and so far things are looking very positive.  The game opens with the story mode where you learn some basic controls and earn some stickers.  There doesn’t seem to be muchto the story mode on the beta.  I think they want people to mainly test the community and level building features, which works fantastic.

The level editor is a breeze to use, though admittedly, if you want to create a huge elaborate stage, that would take some time.  Still, I’ve seen some really great stages online.

The community feature works great.  You can tag stages with words to describe it like fun, boring, brilliant, etc.  This is handy because you can not only use those words in your searches for stages, but you’ll also see these tags associated with levels to give you a quick preview of what others think.

Some levels have been very creative so far.  I played some Mario stages, Sonic’s Green Hill Zone, a Gears of War stage, pirate level, Indiana Jones level, a dinosaur level….the list goes on.  I was working on a carnival stage earlier.  I may get back to that tomorrow and see what I can make of it.  So far, things are looking good for Little Big Planet.  Below is a snapshot of my character.  Sorry about the blurriness.  Even standing still, the Sackboy was bouncing his head merrily, making it tought to snap a clean picture without blurriness on my camera.  More details on this game to follow as I play more of Little Big Planet!
